Four key Arsenal stars miss training as Mikel Arteta eyes surprise inclusion for Tottenham clash

Arsenal face a huge clash against Tottenham at the weekend, with Mikel Arteta having a small squad to work with during the international break. Arsenal face another huge test on their return from the international break, facing off with north London rivals Tottenham at the weekend. Mikel Arteta will be looking to inflict a first defeat of the Premier League campaign to opposite number Antonio Conte, who has helped them off to a good start. A win for the Gunners would keep them top of the table and move them four points clear of Spurs in a huge boost to their top four chancesand title credentials. A loss, on the other hand, would see their close rivals leapfrog them by two points while staying unbeaten. It’ll be all to play for at the Emirates, however history is on Arteta’s side so far, having won the two clashes he has managed at home against Tottenham. The Spaniard, like most managers at the top, has had a smaller squad to work with throughout the international break, but will sti...

Mikel Arteta has already revealed why Arsenal are looking to complete £17m transfer in January

Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu could be in for a busy January transfer window despite Arsenal’s impressive start to the 2022/23 campaign. The club spent around £120million on five new players this summer including Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira, all of whom spearheaded ambitious plans to bolster the squad. However, failed pursuits of both a central midfielder and winger could lead to more activity in the coming months. Various names such as Douglas Luiz and Danilo continue to do the rounds, with deals for either player remaining a possibility in the winter, football.london understands. Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mykhaylo Mudryk is another long-term target and was even considered before Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny picked up injuries ahead of deadline day, though Arsenal are expected to face major competition for his services. One of the latest links to surface concerns Eintracht Frankfurt attacking midfielder Jesper Lindstrom and despite Arsenal seemingly l...

Why Mykhaylo Mudryk to Arsenal is unstoppable in January transfer window

Mykhaylo Mudryk is a Shakhtar Donetsk winger. He is Ukrainian. The 21 year old nearly joined  Arsenal last summer. Personal terms had already been agreed. Fabrizio Romano reported that Shakhtar Donetsk asking for turned off Arsenal interest. Arsenal were not impressed with the high asking price for the Ukrainian. Arsenal fans shocked as Ben White is snubbed England call up as Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw appear on the list

Congratulations to Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale for England call up for the upcoming friendlies against Italy and Germany. Emile Smith Rowe is missing in the list but it’s understandable the lad is nursing Groin injury. Shockingly Ben White has not been called up despite his standout performances for Arsenal. Manchester United flop Harry Maguire has been called ahead of white. This has astonished many Arsenal and England fans. Harry Maguire has not been performing well in Man Utd but Southgate has described him as an important player. Some fan said,  “Ben White is quickly becoming one of the most underrated players in the Premier League. Absolutely scandalous to leave him out of an England squad that includes Harry Maguire and Conor Coady.” Evan on Twitter, “How on earth does Ben White not get into that England squad. Offers a top option at CB and RB. Absolutely ludicrous decision to leave him out.” Kaya said, “Aaron Ramsdale and Bukayo Saka in the England squad for #AFC. ...

Why Emile Smith Rowe may be out for six months following Ben Dinnery verdict

Arsenal youngster Emile Smith Rowe has really struggled with injuries since last year December. He suffered a groin stretch in December last year. Since then the injury hasn’t allowed him to have consistent play. He performed exemplary well last season despite injury issues. Scoring 10 goals and 2 assists in 37 Apps. Smith suffered a groin injury in Man Utd/ Arsenal clash some days ago. Ben Dinnery an Injury expert has shockingly suggested that Smith Rowe need a surgery to solve his injury prone dilemma. A suggestion which will be left on Arsenal to decide whether to go for the cut. If surgery is done the player is expected to be out for long and may compromise Arsenal squad depth. Why Arsenal failed to sign Youri Tielemans and Douglas Luiz revealed

Arsenal failed to sign Belgium international Youri Tielemans who they followed for long time in the transfer window. Arsenal are now short of midfield options. With Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny nursing injuries. The Gunners have four competitions this season.  But their squad depth is worrying and they could be disappointed. The North London side wanted a winger and a central midfielder. Yeremy Pino of Villarreal and Pedro Neto are some of the targets they were following in the summer for winger position but failed to register any of them. Youri Tielemans was the main target for the midfield position. Sky sports reporter Fabrizio Romano has said that Leicester asking price for Tielemans was £35m. But Gunners didn’t want to pay such high price whereas the player will be out of contract end of May next year. The reporter also said that Leicester were reluctant to consider a cheaper fee than their asking fee. This made Gunners want to wait till next summer to sign the play...

Forget McGregor: 52-touch Celtic gem who was a "level above" nearly scared Madrid - opinion

Celtic made a promising, yet frustrating return to Champions League group stage action on Tuesday evening, suffering a 3-0 defeat to holders Real Madrid despite what was a largely encouraging performance for the Scottish champions at Parkhead. While plaudits don’t win points, the Glasgow side will have certainly been boosted by the glowing assessment of their performance against the 14-time winners, with reports in the Spanish media notably lauding Ange Postecoglou’s side for ‘terrifying’ their opponents. One man that particularly caught the eye amid what was a “spectacular atmosphere” – as dubbed by Los Blancos star Luke Modric – was Japan international Reo Hatate, with the diminutive midfielder having sparkled against such elite opposition. The 5 foot 7 playmaker appeared unfazed at coming up against Carlo Ancelotti’s stellar cast of talent, with writer Joel Sked labelling him as a “level above” his fellow teammates, having sparkled in what was a strong first-half display ...

Early Rangers team news emerges ahead of Ajax, Van Bronckhorst is making a big mistake - opinion

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has seemingly made a big decision regarding Ibrox ‘keeper Jon McLaughlin, ahead of this evening’s Champions League encounter with Ajax. What’s the word? As per the Glasgow Times , the Dutchman appears to have decided to keep faith with the 34-year-old against the Eredivisie outfit, despite the former Sunderland stopper having come in for criticism for his role in the recent Old Firm debacle. The former Feyenoord boss stated: “I’ve spoken with Jon and I’ve spoken with the team about how we played, the way we conceded goals and how we need to improve, what went wrong. “It’s a normal process. You cannot change every time you gave a defeat. You cannot change everything because you have to stick to your beliefs and your way of playing”. Big mistake It is set to be a huge night for the Glasgow side, with the club preparing for its first taste of group stage action in Europe’s premier competition since the 2010/2011 season , having stormed their...

Conte must unleash £18m-rated Spurs "monster" tonight, he could rip Marseille apart - opinion

Tottenham Hotspur make their return to Champions League action after two years away later this evening as Antonio Conte’s side host Ligue 1 outfit Marseille in north London. The Italian has plenty to ponder heading into kickoff amidst what he has described as a “crazy” schedule. This weekend’s Premier League clash with defending champions Manchester City will surely be on the mind, so we should be expecting some rotation. Only winger Lucas Moura is unavailable due to injury, so the 53-year-old head coach certainly has the tools available to rejig his starting XI, just a few days after their 2-1 win over Fulham in the English top-flight. One player who is surely in contention to start is Ivan Perisic, 33, who would replace Ryan Sessegnon at left wing-back. The Croatian veteran certainly has the tools to cause the French side serious damage. Spurs are likely to come up against a wing-back system themself, so the former Inter Milan and Bayern Munich star could be afforded ple...

Palace had a summer shocker on "outstanding" £50m talent, Vieira desperately needs him - opinion

Crystal Palace have had a slow start in the Premier League , currently 15th in the table with just six points on the board and one win over their first six outings. That could be a big concern for Patrick Vieira, who is trying to live up to last term’s success in his second season at Selhurst Park. The Eagles enjoyed a fantastic campaign in 2021/22, with a great FA cup run seeing them make it to Wembley for the semi-finals against Chelsea earlier this year, but there has been one noticeable change at the club in the meantime. Conor Gallagher spent the entire campaign on loan with Crystal Palace last term and made a huge impact on the team during his stay in south London, scoring eight goals and winning the club’s Player of the Year award. Speaking in May before the season came to a close, Vieira said of the 22-year-old (via Evening Standard ): “I am really pleased with the year we spent together. He’s been really good to us and we will have to wish him good luck if he goe...

Lampard could discover Everton's next Calvert-Lewin by unleashing "absolute nuisance" - opinion

Everton failed to make the second centre-forward signing that they wanted in the final hours of Deadline Day as an offer for Ben Brereton Diaz came in too little too late, and Frank Lampard will now have to work with the squad that he has in order to inspire better results in the Premier League this season. The Toffees signed Neal Maupay over the summer following the exit of Richarlison and the injury sustained by Dominic Calvert-Lewin, which left them without a trusted out-and-out striker before the ex-Brighton and Hove Albion forward made his move to Merseyside. As a result of the lack of goals in the squad, Everton have had a slow start to their Premier League campaign. They are currently 16th in the table with just six goals scored, and despite being unbeaten in their last four games, they have only taken four points from their first six outings. It is clear that the Toffees are lacking the edge needed to turn their equalisers into winners and there is one player on the...

Moyes could unearth a dream heir to 32 y/o by unleashing "impressive" West Ham starlet - opinion

West Ham United may have a long-term heir to Aaron Cresswell waiting in the wings, as Emmanuel Longelo could become a top talent in David Moyes’ side. The Irons manager brought in Emerson Palmieri during the summer transfer window and the Italian has started two of the last three fixtures against Aston Villa and his former club Chelsea . However, he is yet to really impress, averaging a disappointing 6.07 rating from WhoScored for his performances so far this season. Meanwhile, Cresswell has made 299 West Ham appearances in his career but showed his vulnerabilities towards the end of last season as he picked up red cards in important Europa League games against Lyon and eventual winners Eintracht Frankfurt. The 32-year-old could be set to play more of a bit-part role in Moyes’ side this season; and with his contract set to expire at the end of the campaign, the West Ham manager may have to consider a long-term replacement for the Englishman in his squad, as someone will be n...

Ashworth’s first masterclass: Newcastle struck gold with “phenomenal” £59k-p/w titan - opinion

Perhaps Newcastle United knew all along that signing Nick Pope for just £10m in the summer would prove to be a bargain, but his performances so far suggest that Magpies sporting director Dan Ashworth has struck gold with the 30-year-old. After making 155 appearances for Burnley and regularly playing a big part in them staying in the Premier League for six successive years, Pope and the Clarets eventually succumbed to relegation last season. This paved the way for Newcastle to sign the England international for just £10m and he is already proving himself to be one of the signings of the summer. Pope, who reportedly earns £59k per week at Newcastle, has kept three clean sheets in the first six games of the Premier League season and was awarded Newcastle’s Player of the Month award for August. Even when he shipped three goals against Manchester City , he was still in impressive form, producing a save against Erling Halaand that former Newcastle shot-stopper Shay Given dubbed “...

Sunderland suffer “huge blow” to “incredible” stalwart, Mowbray will be worried - opinion

Sunderland were dealt a big blow on Monday night as Ross Stewart picked up an injury in the warm-up ahead of their Championship game against Middlesbrough . The Scottish forward was in line to start against Chris Wilder’s side but was forced to miss out after picking up an injury, which was perhaps a big factor in the Black Cats’ poor performance as they fell to a 1-0 defeat at the Riverside Stadium. Tony Mowbray provided an update on the talismanic forward following the match, saying : “Ross did it shooting in the warm-up. He’s popped a muscle in his thigh. It seems a very isolated spot, but whether it’s a tear in the upper thigh where he’s struck the ball, we’ll have to see. “It needs a scan. It’ll either come back grade one, grade two or grade three, which will mean he’s out for two weeks, four weeks or eight weeks. Let’s wait and see.” Sunderland have enjoyed a lot of success so far this season playing Stewart alongside Ellis Simms up front as a duo. The two strikers ha...

Ten Hag could unearth the next Francesco Totti as Man United eye move for "wonderkid" – opinion

Manchester United appear to be planning ahead for the future, with Erik ten Hag keen on adding a youngster to his squad next year who is currently setting the continent alight. What’s the news? German journalist Christian Falk has claimed that Bayern Munich are looking to bring Barcelona midfielder Gavi to Germany, although United and Liverpool are also believed to be after the youngster. The 18-year-old’s contract expires at the end of this season , with the aforementioned trio sniffing around due to his reluctance to sign a new deal, it could be a nervy few months for Blaugrana boss Xavi. Ten Hag could unearth the next Totti Gavi has been a revelation since breaking through at Barcelona last season, making 51 appearances in all competitions and contributing two goals and six assists, proving to the world that he is a “ wonderkid ” (as hailed by journalist Charlotte Coates) and could reach the very top. He has even been likened to the former AS Roma and Italy forward Franc...

Wolves handed big pre-LFC boost as early team news emerges, it's great news for Lage - opinion

Wolverhampton Wanderers kickstarted their season into gear with a nerve-racking 1-0 victory over Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon. It marked their first league win this term and it came at an ideal time for the club, moving them away from the relegation zone into 14th  place. The victory came at a massive price for the Old Gold, however, with new signing Sasa Kalajdzic substituted at half-time with knee pain which was later revealed to be an ACL injury, and he could be out for a while. Fellow striker Raul Jimenez – who has already struggled with injury this season – was withdrawn before kick-off with a pain in his groin, which plunged Lage back into the striker crisis that he felt had alleviated following Kalajdzic’s move to Molineux. There could be a silver lining, though, with The Athletic reporting that Jimenez is set to train this week and could be available for the clash against Liverpool at the weekend. The Mexican was the club’s joint-top s...

Fewer touches than Patterson: Sunderland ace let Mowbray down with an "awful" display - opinion

Tony Mowbray suffered his first defeat as Sunderland manager as the Black Cats lost out 1-0 to Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium in their Championship clash on Monday night. Riley McGree’s first-half goal was enough for Chris Wilder’s side to earn all three points in the first Tees-Wear derby since 2018, with Sunderland rarely threatening in the absence of Ross Stewart, who was injured in the warm-up. One man who disappointed in the defeat was on-loan Everton striker Ellis Simms. As per SofaScore , the 21-year-old earned a poor 6.4/10 rating for his display, which was the joint-second worst of any player from both teams to feature in the match. After forming a strong partnership with Stewart, it was perhaps always going to be tough for the youngster to lead the line on his own, and he struggled to have any real impact on the game at the Riverside. During the 90 minutes, he had just 34 touches of the ball, one fewer than goalkeeper Anthony Patterson. He also failed with al...

Howe could form "unbelievable" duo as Newcastle eye January move for "outstanding" gem - opinion

Newcastle United are reportedly considering a January move for Rangers wonderkid Cole McKinnon, and the 19-year-old could form a superb long-term partnership with Elliot Anderson at St James’ Park. What’s the word? According to The Sun , the Magpies have been tracking the teenage midfielder for some time and sent scouts to watch him play for Partick Thistle this season, where is currently on loan. They suggest that the Toon are weighing up a bid for McKinnon, who has started the campaign in fine form, contributing two goals and one assist in 10 appearances for the Jags. However, it may prove difficult to prise him away from Ibrox as he recently committed to a new deal with Rangers until 2025, so Dan Ashworth will do well to bring him to St James’ Park in January. Imagine him and Anderson Anderson looks as if he could have a big part to play in Eddie Howe’s side this season, having featured in three Premier League games already, as well as impressing in the League Cup win ag...

Romano: FSG have already "negotiated" £32.3m deal, it's another Liverpool masterclass - opinion

Liverpool managed to get some Deadline Day business done with the season-long loan signing of Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo, and a new update has since emerged on a potential permanent deal. What’s the latest? Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has given a more detailed insight to the deal between the two clubs concerning the Brazil international, which includes a £32.3m purchase option. The Italian journalist tweeted : “Liverpool will have €37.5m buy option clause for Arthur in June, not mandatory – LFC have negotiated with Juve the possibility of paying the clause in two years.” “Arthur has already agreed the potential, future contract in case LFC will trigger the clause.” It’s another Liverpool masterclass Melo was brought in during the final hours of the transfer window after Jordan Henderson sustained a hamstring injury against Newcastle United last Wednesday, but the panic signing could turn out to be another Liverpool masterclass if the 26-year-old makes a positive...

Lange could have sealed "unbelievable" deal in late AVFC swoop for £114k-p/w "octopus" – opinion

Aston Villa gave an indication of their ambitions this season by battling to a 1-1 draw against Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday evening, with only a controversial VAR call potentially robbing them of all three points. It marked a stark contrast from their previous three matches which all ended in timid defeats, and the result against Pep Guardiola’s City juggernaut might well be the catalyst for Steven Gerrard’s side heading into the next few weeks. This poor start to the campaign has been a surprise considering just how strong a summer transfer window Villa had, as Gerrard brought in players such as Boubacar Kamara and Diego Carlos from European-competing clubs and made Philippe Coutinho’s loan move permanent. Deadline day produced two more arrivals in Leander Dendoncker and Jan Bednarek, but it might have been even better for Villa… Lange could have sealed “unbelievable” deal for Kondogbia Lange could have added another player on deadline day, with Sp...

Lampard has turned Everton's "embarrassing" £50k-p/w ace into an "exceptional" talent - opinion

Alex Iwobi has undergone an impressive transformation in his Everton career, with Frank Lampard’s decision to make him a central midfielder seriously paying off. The Nigeria international, who signed in a deal worth £35m from Arsenal in 2019, struggled in his first few years at Goodison Park and has contributed just seven goals and nine assists in 104 appearances for the Toffees. He found life so difficult that after one game he was dubbed “ embarrassing ” by reporter David Prentice, who was rather damning of his performance level. However, the £50k-per-week earner’s displays have drastically improved since Lampard came in and turned him into a central midfielder rather than a winger, as is evidenced by his stats from WhoScored . Last season saw the 26-year-old average a less than impressive 6.58 rating for his performances as he only managed four goal involvements, while in six Premier League starts this season he has a 6.74 rating. He has also averaged more key passes per g...

Spurs must avoid 2023 disaster on "unplayable" talent, it's Conte's worst nightmare - opinion

Image
Tottenham Hotspur centre-forward Harry Kane is attracting the interest of Bayern Munich . What’s the talk? That’s according to a report by German publication BILD (via The Sun ), who claim that, despite earlier reports suggesting that Antonio Conte is desperate for the 29-year-old to put pen to paper on a new deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Bayern are attempting to convince the England international against penning a contract extension with the Premier League side. The report goes on to state that, after the Bundesliga champions were reported to have sounded out a potential move for the striker this summer, Julian Nagelsmann’s side have already set the wheels in motion ahead of a potential 2023 summer swoop – at which point Kane will have just one year remaining on his current deal in north London. Conte’s worst nightmare While it is undeniable that Kane has been an integral part of the Tottenham side for the last eight years , when taking into account the extra gear t...

Van Bronckhorst forced to make big Champions League calls, it's a blow to Rangers - opinion

Glasgow Rangers find themselves in the Champions League group stages for the first since the 2010/11 season and following their incredible achievement of reaching the Europa League final last year, it marks a natural progression to joining Europe’s elite. The delirium of making it to the promised land was soon disrupted following the Ibrox side’s woeful 4-0 defeat to Old Firm rivals Celtic in Saturday’s clash at Parkhead. It proves that their rivals are leaps ahead of them domestically and despite the success Giovanni van Bronckhorst has brought to Rangers on the continent, the Premiership is always the main objective. With glamour fixtures against Liverpool, Napoli, and Ajax to come in the Champions League, the Dutchman has chosen his squad ready to do battle, which is as follows : Goalkeepers – Allan McGregor, Robby McCrorie, Jon McLaughlin Defenders – James Tavernier, Ridvan Yilmaz, Connor Goldson, JohnSouttar, Ben Davies, Borna Barisic Midfield/attack  – John Lundst...
